About this event

The Atraumatic Extraction & Ridge Preservation course represents a comprehensive educational program designed to address one of the most critical challenges in modern implant dentistry: alveolar bone resorption following tooth extraction. This specialized hands-on course, offered by DOCS Education in partnership with Dr. Jay Reznick, DMD, MD, focuses on minimally traumatic tooth removal techniques and alveolar ridge preservation grafting protocols that maintain bone volume and support optimal implant placement outcomes.

The course curriculum covers the fundamental principles of why ridge resorption occurs immediately following tooth extraction and provides evidence-based strategies to prevent it before it compromises implant success. Participants will master essential instruments and techniques for atraumatic tooth removal, learning from a highly respected board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with over two decades of clinical expertise. The program explores various bone graft materials, barrier membranes, and suture options available for alveolar ridge preservation, equipping clinicians with comprehensive knowledge to select appropriate materials for their specific clinical situations.

What distinguishes this educational event is its robust hands-on workshop component, where attendees actively practice minimally traumatic extraction techniques and complete alveolar ridge preservation procedures step-by-step. Participants work with real instruments and materials provided by TBS Dental, gaining practical suturing experience and confidence to implement these advanced techniques immediately upon returning to their practices. The course emphasizes a prosthetically driven approach to implant placement, ensuring that bone preservation directly supports optimal esthetic and functional outcomes for patients.

The didactic portion provides the scientific foundation, covering the financial aspects and practice benefits of incorporating alveolar ridge preservation grafting into clinical workflows. Attendees will understand the instruments, materials, and clinical protocols that distinguish atraumatic extraction from conventional techniques. This course is ideal for general dentists seeking to expand their surgical capabilities, oral surgeons wanting to refine their ridge preservation techniques, and implant specialists who recognize that successful implant outcomes begin with superior bone volume preservation at the time of extraction.
