Michiyo Matsumoto-nakano

Prof. Michiyo Matsumoto-Nakano, DDS, PhD, is a Japanese dental researcher and Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at Okayama University, Japan. She earned her doctoral degree in dental science from Osaka University and has extensive experience in academic research, clinical dentistry, and dental education. Her research focuses on oral microbiology, cariogenic bacteria, biofilm formation, and the molecular mechanisms underlying dental caries and oral infections.

She has also investigated the role of Streptococcus mutans in systemic diseases, including IgA nephropathy, highlighting the potential links between oral bacterial infections and general health. Her work contributes to advancing the understanding and prevention of oral diseases, particularly in children.
